Deadlifts – Week 18

Mood: Stoked.

The first time I deadlifted, I pulled 3 plates for a double.

Eighteen weeks later, I am doing that for 5×3.

Here’s the workout:

  • Romanian Deadlifts 135# 1×10; 175# 1×10; 225# 1×5; 275# 1×5
  • Deadlifts 5×3 315#
  • Lat Pulldown 5×6 195#

Results: Meh.

So the belt gave me a great boost with the Squats, so I figure let me figure out how to use it for the Deadlift.

Man, that is why you don’t see many people DLing with a belt. If you bring it too high in order to flatten your back, you can’t catch a breath. In the middle of your gut and it digs into your ribs. Too low and you have no hip hinge.

So deadlifting in the future: no belt and no shirt.


Supplements: C4 taken 30 minutes prior to working out.

Daily: Whey ProteinCreatine (for the one extra rep and swoleness) and Fish Oil (joints) everyday.
